A collection of research materials regarding George P. McLean (1857 – 1932) and the George P. McLean Fund. The McLean Fund created and supports the McLean Home, a healthcare facility in Simsbury, and the McLean Game Refuge, a 4,400 acre wildlife sanctuary in Simsbury and Granby Connecticut (As of Jun 9, 2022, https://mcleancare.org and https://mcleancare.org/game-refuge/).
This collection contains resources and works created from 1852 to 2001 that are related to his family, work and legacy. George P. McLean held the following offices:
- Representative, CT General Assembly, 1883 – 1885
- Senator, CT General Assembly, 1886 – 1888
- United States District Attorney, 1892 – 1896
- Governor of the State of CT, 1901 – 1903
- United States Senator, 1911 – 1929
He is buried in Simsbury Cemetery and his home is now the Governor’s House, a separate healthcare facility in Simsbury.
